6th Year Student, Lilian Gleave Presents at the Community Climate Action Showcase in Dublin Castle

The Minister of State for Community Development, Charities and Integration, Joe O’Brien TD, yesterday (Tuesday, 21st November) hosted the first Community Climate Action Showcase in Dublin Castle. 6th year student Lilian Gleave was in attendance giving a presentation about the National Youth Assembly on Climate, which took place in March this year. The Assembly made recommendations to the government in relation to sustainable travel, circular economy, community engagement, and public investment. She also spoke on a panel about using her experience and knowledge to guide young people through their own school's climate journey. We heard about what sparked a need in her to take climate action and how that passion has grown with her into young adulthood. Minister for the Environment, Climate and Communications, Eamon Ryan TD, addressed the Showcase, noting the impressive efforts made by all in attendance. He encouraged communities to continue to identify creative, practical and impactful actions to arrest harmful climate change.

Minister Ryan stated: "There clearly is so much good work happening across the country to fight climate change work being done by grass- roots, community and voluntary groups, by highly motivated individuals and clusters. You are the people driving action and bringing your neighbours friends and families with you and I am very grateful for your dedication." In conclusion, the Community Climate Action Showcase at Dublin Castle marked a pivotal moment in addressing climate challenges.
