About Us

Kinsale Community School officially began on August 1st 1996, following the amalgamation of Our Lady of the Rosary Secondary School and Kinsale Vocational School. It embodies the best traditions of both these schools and much, much more.

The school motto, "Omnes Communiter Discendo" adopted by the first Board of Management, states that we are "All Together in Learning" and stresses our commitment to the education of all the students in our care.

Kinsale Community School aims to cater for the curricular, personal and physical needs of each individual student, in a safe and caring environment. We try to create a positive atmosphere, where the emphasis is on personal achievement, moral development and character formation. All students are encouraged to find their own strengths in order to grow into self-confident and responsible adults. With a thoroughly comprehensive range of subjects, we believe all our students can learn both academic and practical skills and from this will have a sense of personal fulfilment. A strong, positive Code of Discipline helps to engender self-respect, by teaching respect for people and property. With a firmly established programme of pastoral care, we seek also to enhance the spiritual aspects of the lives of our students through a programme of religious and moral instruction in keeping with family traditions.

Involvement of Parents

Kinsale Community School has a strong and active Parents Association, which maintains a close liaison with both staff and students. Two parent representatives sit on the Board of Management and are closely involved in the running of the school. Consultation with teachers is encouraged through regular parent teacher meetings.

No Barriers

Ever conscious of Kinsale's position in a national, European and global setting, Kinsale Community School caters for students at second and third level, from a wide catchment area locally but also from Britain, mainland Europe, North and South America, Australia, Asia and Africa!

We impose no upper age limit on our Adult Education students in either full time day courses or part time night classes.

Kinsale Community School is committed to

  • Enabling all students to fulfil their academic, intellectual, moral, spiritual, social, cultural and physical potential

  • Fostering the development of personal responsibility

  • Engendering a spirit of co-operation and mutual respect among students, staff, management, parents, and the wider community

  • Facilitating the professional development of staff

...in a safe and caring environment.
