TY Trip to Apple

On Thursday 14th December, a group of TY students got to experience a unique opportunity to visit Apple's facility in Holyhill, Cork, where they got to experience and witness the inner workings of one of the world's leading technology companies, fostering inspiration and curiosity about the dynamic world of innovation.

The TY trip to Apple's facility was more than just a visit; it was an immersive experience that exposed students to the cutting-edge technologies and creative processes that drive the company's success. Located in the picturesque Holyhill region of Cork, the Apple facility serves as a hub for research and development, showcasing the company's commitment to innovation.

Upon arrival, students were greeted by the impressive Apple campus, characterised by sleek architecture and meticulously landscaped surroundings. The modern design of the buildings reflects Apple's emphasis on aesthetics and functionality, setting the stage for an unforgettable educational journey.

The trip included engaging workshops that allowed our students to interact with Apple professionals from various departments.

The following timetable indicated the breadth and depth of sessions and information provided to our students.

The first workshop was a hands-on approach to Explore Creativity, through the use of Apple Photography and Videography Apps.

This was followed by a Talk on Apple’s values which emphasised Apple's commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility, showcasing initiatives such as eco-friendly design and renewable energy usage.

Students then got to present their case-study and received positive feedback from Apple logistic experts. Daniel Jones, Ruairi O’Daltuin and Theo Barry represented KCS admirably.

After a 15-minute interval, a second workshop on Apple Music gave the students a chronology of Apple music followed by some Christmas Karaoke!

The day ended with a Q&A careers talk given by a career panel. This informative Q&A provided valuable insights into the diverse career paths available within the tech industry. Students had the chance to engage with Apple professionals, asking questions and seeking advice about potential career paths. The exposure to diverse roles encouraged them to explore their interests and consider future possibilities. Experiencing Apple's innovative culture inspired students to think creatively and aspire to make a positive impact on the world through technology. The trip serves as a catalyst for students to consider pursuing careers in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields.
